So Whitney Shaw came into class last week to tell us all about the social media that's out there that we may not have known about. She talked about facebook and myspace, which most of us kind of already knew about, but she also went more in-depth about myspace and how people can even steal your songs off your space...scary. Kinda makes me freak out a little bit, but it also got me thinking that I need to get my songs copyrighted (shh don't tell anyone they aren't copyrighted yet!!).
As far as Facebook goes...I LOVE it. I check my facebook at least twice maybe three times a day. Feel free to check out my page :) This is a place I find the easiest and most convenient place to make event invitations to all of my kinds of shows. I recently made a My Band tab which is a little profile and place to put some music up to people can listen to some of my stuff. It also has a link to my myspace profile.
She also mentioned something about Twitter...now I haven't checked this out yet, but once my band stuff gets going I think it's something I will want to look into. It seems like a very useful thing to get press releases and just some easy information out to everyone (and their mom).
Overall, it was a very useful presentation. I learned more about the things I use everyday, which is nice because you dont hear about all the tricks to some of these new technologies.
